Bird stalkers

I was at work last weekend and while I was working this little guy sat at the base of a standard rose plant and watched me for over an hour. I'm assuming he is some sort of dove and looks to be a fluffy youngster.

Speaking of birds we get alot of rock pigeons in our town flocking in peoples backyards. We use to feed them but stopped after I came downstairs one morning and found one sitting in our lounge on one of the windowsills staring at me. Let's just say I let out a scream and got B to come and get rid of it. After telling a local bird expert about it, he basically recommended we don't feed them anymore - sparrows, finches, blackbirds etc are fine but pigeons are classed as a pest here.

What funny stories do you have about birds? Linking up with Our World Tuesday, Tuesday Treasures and My Corner of the World

  1. Haha, that pigeon thought you were late with his breakfast! They are pests in this country too. I love birds but not every single kind.

  2. Pigeons are a pest everywhere aren't they? They used to steal all the bird food in our back yard and we had to design anti-pigeon fortifications along with the anti-squirrel devices. They apparently carry more diseases transmissible to humans than rats do. Yuck!

  3. My cat spends her days on the veranda sleeping. When I feed her the lokal birds fly in for a treat. The cat is too lazy to chase then away.

  4. Hello,

It is a pretty pigeon, was it nesting there? Take care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy week ahead.

  5. Pigeons are a major irritation in cities in the UK. We actually are one of the few places with genuine original rock doves. They are pretty indistinguishable from any ordinary pigeon except that they are not people friendly (a good thing) and nest on the cliffs. However they still try and eat anything that falls from my birdtable.

  6. Can imagine the fright. Our wild cats do that. I do not like being spied on

  7. Mourning doves visit my gardens, and are considered an asset Thank goodness the domestic pigeons stay more in the city. Nice photo.

  9. I have two galahs that sit near the back door and call for to feed them, they get really loud if I take too long 😊 I get so many birds, galahs, corollas, rainbow lorikeets, doves, mudlarks.. I love them all except the crows and they seem to be everywhere at the moment ✨

  11. lol, some birds and other animals know we fed them so they start to demand it. Not that good. The one you share seem like a fine one :)
