Petrol is expensive!

Overcast Winter skies from the Chapel Street mobile petrol station looking towards Matua

Last week  the other half and I drove out to another side of Tauranga to fill up his petrol tank of his car. My work had been giving away promotional vouchers to get 20 cents off a litre of petrol which has proven to be very popular with people. Depending on where you go or live the prices can vary somewhat. For instance up north where I use to live in Mangawhai and Wellsford the cost of 98 or 95 was around $2.35/$2.45 per litre. Here in Tauranga it's roughly $2.37 per litre on average for the same. We filled up his car's tank in preparation for our journey next week.

How expensive is gas where you are?

Linking up with Skywatch Friday.

We are a little dearer at NZ$ 2.5/L most of it is tax. Most of the cost of everything is tax.

Our petrol on the island is far more expensive . It's 1.75 euros a litre here, around 1.40 in Athens, sometimes cheaper. Heaven knows what that is in NZ dollars.

When I first lived in NZ in 2006 the exchange rate combined with the relatively cheap petrol in NZ compared with Scotland meant that I paid about half the Scottish price. The price of 95 in my local filling station is £1.35/l at the moment which means that in NZ terms it is $2.59/l. (Today's tourist rate is 1.92 $/£)

$1.379 in Ontario. Canada. A real bargain compared to you.

On the east coast of the US, we pay ~$0.80/liter

It tends to waver between $1.20 and 1.35 a litre here, depending on the day of the week and the time of the day. I don't know how the Canadian dollar compares to yours.

Gas prices here fluctuate quite a bit hee in the US, but I'd say the average has been $2,85 where I live in Colorado

Yikes, that's really expensive! If I'm doing the math right, that's nearly $9/gallon!! Here in CA we pay around $3.75/gallon, which is higher than most of the rest of the US due to higher taxes. At $9/gallon, I would be driving a hybrid or electric vehicle for sure!

The cheapest is about 3.50 per gal.

Our prices waver between $1.20 and $1.50 in Sydney. $2.45 is like $2.24 Aussie dollars. Yikes!
