The Hamilton LDS Temple
On a rainy day through Hamilton we drove past the Temple belonging to the Church of the Latter Day Saints. The temple is the 13th constructed and the 11th operating operating temple. The building was completed in 1958, it was the first temple built in the Southern Hemisphere and the 2nd to be built outside of Canada and the United States. More information here. FYI I don't belong to this faith/religion, we just drove through this area out of interest.

Their temples are made to be seen from a great distance. The ground keeping is always immaculate.
yes, the gardens were very well kept and pretty, everything spotless.
Looks like it is made of carton with cut out windows like a maquette. Very straight and vertical.
It looks very familiar. There are many in Arizona.
The building makes quite a statement on the landscape. I imagine it can be seen for miles around.
Their temples are always so striking
We must have one in this area, but I have no idea where.
Great architecture
Very nice. Is it open to visitors?
It has very clean lines.
The first one built outside Canada and the U.S. was just outside the village in Surrey where I was born and brought up.
That is a fine building. I love that you got a little backstory on it. I am not LDS either but they build very nice temples. I got to tour a newly built one in Oklahoma City before it was put into use and the interior is very nice, very luxurious and exquisite.
I have seen other such temples in New Zealand less splendid, but nevertheless quite splendid in their surroundings. This one really is rather extravagant. I'd not realised which faith it belonged to.
U.S. was just outside the village in Surrey where I was born and brought up.
