End of the Summer drought

I'm pleased to say that since yesterday morning it's been raining. NZ has been going through quite a severe drought. Over Summer it was very very dry, grass was brown, people around the country were running out of water, everything needed replenishing. This is the view from the front driveway of our apartment. I can't see Mount Maunganui in the distance because of the rain but it's good to see everything wet.

The new apartments being built next door are coming along, it's a pity they are so close to us but we knew when we first moved in here that they were going to be built.

But at least the geraniums and daisies in my plant pots on the deck are enjoying being fed by the raindrops.

More Skywatch Fridays here :-)

Good to hear you're getting rain too and it's not just in Auckland.

Congratulation on your rain! Here in California we seem to have put an end to our recent, severe multi-year drought. Lots of rain so far this winter.

I'm happy for you that the rains have come. My friends in the Tauranga area have been waiting for their gardens' sakes.

Isn't it wonderful when you can't see your mountain landmarks because of the rain - when you need it so badly. We've been having a little rain, too. Need a lot more before we can say the drought has broken but it's a start and a help for the garden and lawn at least.

Glad you are getting rain, bummer about the apartments next door.

Well I shouldn't complain really, we've been living here for just over a year and we knew pretty much that they were going to be built but that's apartment living for you :-)

are you on tank water up there Pauline? do you have a bore? that would make things a bit easier.

Rain after a drought is a wonderful gift. Our Colorado son and DIL are experiencing the same building next door thing that you are. He said 'oh well, for over ten years, we have lived on a culdesac that wasn't supposed to ever be a culdesac." They knew building would take place eventually next door, it just took so long we'd gotten used to the quiet.
