The houses next door that are no more...

We live in a townhouse in a row of other apartments on our road, next door there was a 3 bedroom house in the front of the section and a cruddy house behind it until this week when we saw house movers putting the first house up on piles. We had briefly gotten to know one of the neighbours, a young guy named Jason but then he informed us they had been given notice to move. Apparently a developer had bought the property and was going to be building a row of apartments there. We're not sure if we will lose our view of Mount Maunganui or not but we've known since January this was probably going to happen. It's not a big deal to us, I guess this is what progress means....we're hoping the new neighbours will at least be around the same ages as we are and not noisy...

It's good they were able to salvage the one home, I hate to see perfectly good homes torn down and thrown in a landfill. I hope you get good neighbors.

That will be a shame if you lose your view. Hope the building is aesthetically pleasing with friendly neighbours.

I hope you don't loose your view. This is happening all over Auckland too - high density housing. Cool photos though.
