Past Summer days at Mount Maunganui beach

Since it's so cruddy, wet and cold here I thought I'd take a look through my external hard drive and found these images that make me feel alot warmer - just thinking about the hot sand under my feet, the warm air and the sound of rolling waves is a nice change from looking out at rainy dark Winter skies. See that slightly greenish tinge in the second photo in the waves? That's sea lettuce that washes up at certain times of the year. I'd never seen anything like it and it really does look and feel like lettuce - very strange.

These ones were taken back in January - this part of the beach is not the busy part, apparently that's further down towards the left hand side nearer the shops, restaurants and cafes. We chose a less populated area...what's it like where you live right now?

I find that I also like to look at summer photos when the weather is dreary outside. Looks like a beautiful beach, Amy! We are just starting summer here in NJ, and the weather this week has been glorious -- sunny, mid 80's and no humidity!

Wow, that looks like a great time was had by all. We are going on our beach vacation next month. I also like to think about it during the cold months of the year.

Hello, it does look warm at the beach. Wish I was there. Lovely scenes and photos. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

It looks lovely. We are having a few stormy days with torrential rain and flooding. Then within a few hours the sun is out spreading it's warmth.

I've seen Sea Lettuce here on the Oregon Coast in past years and yes, it is weird. It is probably edible -- hould know, but don't. My kids all took a coastal biology class when they were in high school and we learned all about stuff like that -- but it's so long ago I've forgotten. We are back home on the US west coast now, where it is summer, but not as hot as it was when we left Florida earlier this month. I do not love rainy winter weather (which is why we spend winters in sunny Florida) so I certainly understand your posting summer memories!

Oh beautiful beach scenes. Makes me wanna wish I was on a beach instead of sitting in my office all day.

It is summertime in New England and your gorgeous beach photography makes me wonder where I can find a less crowded sandy beach ~

Happy Day, weekend and Happy 4th of July in the USA to you.

yes that's the key to find a less crowded beach, not so easy here in the city. 4th of July though isnt celebrated here in NZ but hope it goes well for you there :-)
