Water lillies at Hamilton Gardens

Over the weekend we travelled to Hamilton, a city just over an hour or so away for a wedding that was being held at Hamilton Gardens in the Victorian Glasshouse. Very hot sweltering boiling hot Summer's day, one of the highest on record here and in the shade while we waited for the ceremony to start I couldn't help taking photos of the view, and this just part of the whole area.

In the above two photos are shots of the water lilly section which is based upon a Victorian Flower Garden, nearby is a greenhouse, very well clipped grass lawns and curved gravel walks. All in all a delightful place to visit.

What a beautiful water garden! I'm more of a natural gardener, but water lilies look so beautiful displayed that way. We left behind our beautiful water lilies behind when we moved, I hope the new owners enjoy them as much as we did! And as for bird photography, you'll notice my birds are all flying, they do move FAST!

The gardens are beautiful, they seem to be holding up well in the heat.

It's difficult to comprehend 'hot' and 'sweltering' with over 2 feet of fresh snow, but I'll do my best :-)

I think we passed by Hamilton on our way to Rotorua, but we didn't look around. I am sure it is also full of surprises. That pond is lovely

I really like water lilies ... and the sunny summery pictures are welcome. Even here in subtropical southwest Florida, we are having rain and gray today.

I went to the Hamilton Gardens on Tuesday just this week, it's pretty in there! I agree though, the heat was nasty. I couldn't imagine a wedding in that sort of heat!

Whenever we visit New Zealand we always manage to take in a botanical garden, Hamilton will certainly be added to the list next time. Beautiful, Amy.
