Travels along the Kaiaua Coast

Over the weekend we travelled again to Orere Point where the weather was marvellously hot - on the way home I couldn't help taking a shot of the scenery along the Kaiaua Coast. So nice seeing some of the Pohutukawa trees starting to flower, in fact there's a myth here that if you see their flowers before Christmas it means a bumper summer will come. Today btw it's the 1st of December aka the 1st day of Summer so here's where I start using very high factor sun block due to my pale skin - hope things are going well in your part of the world :-)

Let's see, when I left my home this morning on my motorcycle, it was 0 degrees C. Hot sounds good right about now. Love that nice curving road with the killer view.

Great photo of the coast. It's many years since I have seen pohutukawa flowering along the coast. They are so beautiful!

The pohutukawa by us are not flowering yet. Maybe soon!

I'm a pale girl in a sunny state when we're in Florida, so I know what you mean about a high SPF! I try, but it's hard to keep lotion end up when we swim etc. enjoy your beautiful summer weather!
