Finally - I caught the moon!

Monday night I heard there was to be a blood moon in the sky, we weren't sure of the times so before I went to bed I fiddled around with my camera settings, something I haven't been able to work out before and managed to get the shutter speed down to a good level while experimenting with taking photos. Finally got this one which I think is pretty good - what do you think? It's not a blood moon but it is full and round...

Cherry Blossom time in Tauranga

Over the weekend I decided to go for a rather big walk, something I haven't done for quite some time. As it's Spring here right now there are alot of Cherry Blossoms around the city, in fact in Greerton there was a festival to celebrate the colour of these trees - roads were closed off and many people turned up to enjoy the stalls, face painting, bouncy castles, pony rides etc.

It didn't take long on my walk to see lots of these trees around my neighbourhood - this one (above) is the view from one of the trees next to one of the local petrol stations.

And this one is right outside the local Baptist church - the Cherry Blossom trees seem to be dotted around the city which for me makes for a lovely display of pink colour.

Red spring Clivia flowers are blooming pretty!

There's loads of colour here in Tauranga at the moment - I was out on one of my daily walks this morning and saw these lovely vibrant bright red Clivia in the front of someone's garden.

White Spring Magnolias everywhere

Every morning I drive down this road when I take my step daughter to school, there are Magnolia trees and blossoms everywhere, this one has white flowers not just on the branches but also littering the ground, I think it's a bright addition to the gray skies that seem to be here every day.

Welcome to black stormy skies....and more rain

Just as I was leaving work last night I spotted these black skies coming over Tauranga, we've had so much rain lately I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like. Just as I got home the torrential rain started - typical Spring I think...

Spring stormy morning skies

Over the weekend I was planning on getting out and taking some new Spring photos but as nature does sometimes rain happened instead. Parts of Tauranga got lightening, so bad to the point where phone lines got frazzled, we didn't get that here much to my disappointment. But.....I am counting down days until my two youngest teenagers will be here for the school holidays which start this weekend. They live up north with their dad until the end of the year so they can finish their education then hopefully they will move here with us, can't wait!

Hope you have a good day, more for Our World Tuesdays click here :-)

End of a long week...time for the rugby

After a long week I'm ready to relax. The rugby world cup is starting here tomorrow morning and the first game is England vs Fiji, should be a good head to head start - go All Blacks!

Speaking of relaxing, there's nothing better than seeing a view like this - the train tracks along front of Tauranga's strand go for quite some distance, even past my workplace 3 times each day.

What view relaxes you? Have a great weekend :-)

Boats and containers on Harbour Drive

On one of those moments driving to work last week I deviated from my normal route and took a side road down to Harbour drive, a nice scenic area overlooking water and in the distance there are shipping containers piled up at the Tauranga Port - this was only a side view of this area, the Port is much bigger and stretches for a much longer distance on the other side.

At least it was a sunny morning though - can't wait for summer! For more Wednesday around the world click here :-)

Sunny Spring window reflections at Bayfair

So I had one of those moments yesterday at work when I popped out at lunchtime to one of the local shopping malls to buy a few things. You see a few months back I purchased online what the auction stated was a brand new pair of unworn shoes, said shoes turned up and looked as they were touted to be and when I put them on at home they were comfortable and looked very good. By the time I got to work the lining had begun to unpeel from the inside and by morning tea when I returned to my desk from a short walk I noticed the heels had come off - so much for a brand new pair of unworn shoes.

After nipping out to buy a new pair I was walking back to my car and noticed this reflection in some of the mirror windows next to the parking lot and thought it it was pretty cool that not only was it a lovely sunny Spring day but that a guy on a cart was visible driving past a load of trolleys that were being lined up to be pushed back near the entrance.

Hope your week has gone well, for more weekend reflections click here :-)

Plum tree blossoms are here!

I spotted one of the trees in the backyard covered in white blooms this morning so while we had a brief break from the rain and drizzle I nipped out to take some shots. At first I thought this might be an apple tree but I have since found out it's a plum tree. I'm definitely looking forward to some summer fruit!

Colourful poppies - these make my day!

Flowers, a sure sign that Spring is here, these poppies were situated in the middle of a traffic island near the park where I recently found the yellow daffodils. Love them - so colourful!

Thursday night Spring sunsets

I just love Thursday nights, the idea that it's Friday the next day is something I look forward to...last day of the week. This shot I took late yesterday afternoon, again on the way home from work after I'd stopped to buy petrol. This is the view over the water and the sky as the sun was setting, just further to the left is the area where I live. Hope you have a happy Friday :-)
